The Fire Department is responsible for the prevention and extinguishment of fires in the City of Wixom, as well as providing basic life support services during medical emergencies. Additionally, the Fire Department performs annual safety inspections through the Business License Program and sponsors fire safety seminars for adults and children. In this manner, the Fire Department promotes the safety and welfare of all persons who work and live in our City, and prevents the loss of property from fire. The Fire Department also strives to improve the quality of life for City residents by providing public education, code enforcement, and ongoing training for firefighters.
Emergency services are delivered by Fire Station #1 located at 1345 N. Wixom Road. It is just north of Potter Road and houses emergency fire equipment and vehicles, as well as the Administrative offices of the Fire Department.
New Paperless Process for Business Licenses: The City of Wixom Fire Department requests assistance from Wixom businesses in helping to reduce paperwork and related costs. If you are able to receive future annual Business License Renewal paperwork by email, the Fire Department asks that you provide an email address via the Annual Business License Renewal Email Address Collection form.

Organization and Staffing
The Fire Department consists of a Director of Public Safety, a Fire Chief and Fire Marshal, a full-time Fire Inspector and EMS Coordinator, as well as 12 paid on-call and part-time Firefighter/EMTs.
The Department responds to over 1200 calls for service annually within the ten square miles of Wixom. Paid on-call Firefighters complete several hundred hours of training over a two year period to become certified as Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians. Additionally, Firefighters receive specialty training in hazardous materials, confined space entry, and technical rescue, as well as ice rescue and open water rescue.
The Wixom Fire Department provides full service; Firefighters respond to a myriad of calls for emergency service, the majority of them medical emergencies. However, Firefighters respond to odor investigations, downed and low hanging wires, carbon monoxide and smoke alarms, hazardous material spills, vehicle accidents and fires.
The City has mutual aid agreements with all our surrounding communities and is a member of the Michigan Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MI-MABAS), to share and receive resources.
Fire Department Headquarters is located at 1345 N. Wixom Road, and operates a fleet of emergency vehicles and specialty equipment including two fire engines, two ambulances, a platform ladder, a heavy rescue, two brush fire units, a boat and technical rescue trailer.
