Although assessing services are provided by Oakland County’s Equalization Department, the City continues to provide staff and personalized service for residents and property owners. These services include liaison with the Board of Review, coordination of the State’s homestead exemption program on the local level, reviewing Property Transfer Affidavits, and assisting the City Manager and his staff in matters relating to planning, land acquisition, tax abatement review and other related matters. A link to the most current version of the Michigan Department of Treasury Property Transfer Affidavit (Form Number 2766) can be found on the Michigan Taxes Webpage.
Local assessing-related services are located within the Construction & Development Services Department.

The City’s assessing information is supported by Geographic Information System (GIS) services currently provided by Michigan State University through the direction of Dr. Timothy Gates. GIS is an organized collection of computer hardware, software, geographic data, and personally designed to efficiently capture, store, update, manipulate, analyze and display all forms of geographically referenced information. Through GIS, the City is able to provide high quality geographic resources, including automated mapping. A collection of GIS maps of the City are available to visualize and/or download below.
