The Road Commission for Oakland County Project - Pontiac Trail
Information as of October 6, 2025
The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) is planning a road construction project for this spring/summer. The project will close a portion of Pontiac Trail in both directions. The City of Wixom will update this page as more information becomes available.
LOCATION:
- Remove the existing 59-year-old culvert under the road.
- Installation of pre-cast concrete box culvert with head and wing walls.
- Replacement of the pedestrian bridge on the south side of the road with a new sidewalk on the new culvert.
- Asphalt paving in the vicinity of the culvert.
- New guardrail and pavement markings.
CONTRACTOR: Dan's Excavating
2025 START DATE: August (specific date to be announced); Preliminary work to start in July (specific date to be announced)
APPROXIMATE END DATE: Late October
ROAD CLOSURE: Yes, residential and business access maintained east and west of the road closure.
DETOUR: Wixom Road to Grand River Avenue to Milford Road, back to Pontiac Trail and vice versa.
