The Road Commission for Oakland County

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) is planning a road construction project for this spring/summer. The project will close a portion of Pontiac Trail in both directions. The City of Wixom will update this page as more information becomes available.
LOCATION:
- Remove the existing 55-year-old culvert under the road.
- Installation of pre-cast concrete box culvert.
- Drainage improvements.
- Asphalt paving in the vicinity of the culvert.
- New guardrail and pavement markings.
- Sidewalk replacement.
- Tree removals and miscellaneous clearing work are expected on Oct. 24 and 25, 2024. Starting at 10 a.m. each day, the pathway will close, and one lane on Pontiac Trail will periodically close with flaggers directing traffic. The road and pathway will reopen before the evening commute each day.

2025 START DATE: August (specific date to be announced); Preliminary work to start in July (specific date to be announced)
APPROXIMATE END DATE: To be announced
ROAD CLOSURE: Yes, residential and business access maintained east and west of the road closure.
DETOUR: Wixom Road to Grand River Avenue to Milford Road, back to Pontiac Trail and vice versa.
