Early Voting-
In November 2022, Michigan voters approved a constitutional amendment that gives voters the right to vote early and in person at early voting sites before statewide and federal elections. However, for consistency, all Oakland County voters will be able to participate in early voting for every Election. Early voting allows a voter to cast a ballot before Election Day in an experience similar to voting on Election Day. During an early voting period, voters are issued a ballot and can then insert their ballot directly into a tabulator at their early voting site.
Where is Wixom’s early voting site?
The regional early voting site for Wixom, Walled Lake and Commerce Township will be the Commerce Township Library located at 180 E. Commerce Street, Commerce Twp., Michigan 48382 or Waterford Oaks Activity Center located at 2800 Watkins Lake Road, Waterford, Michigan 48328.
How is early voting different from absentee voting?
Both early in-person voting and absentee voting allow voters to cast a ballot prior to Election Day. However, there are important differences between the two choices in voting.

Absentee Voting |
Early In-Person Voting |
|
How you cast your ballot – Absentee voting allows you to complete your absentee ballot at home or at the Clerk’s Office. You can then submit your ballot in an envelope by mail, in person, or by drop box. After an absentee ballot is received by our Clerk’s Office, your absentee ballot is processed and tabulated by the Clerk. |
How you cast your ballot – Early in-person voting is similar to how you would vote at your precinct on Election Day. Voters are issued a ballot and can personally insert it into the tabulator at the early voting site. |
