POSITION TITLE:            Part-Time Senior Assistant 

REPORTS TO:                 City Manager/Senior Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:          High school graduate, or equivalent; strong interpersonal skills especially in relation to building and maintaining consensus and maintaining open communication with patrons, ability to work well with members of the public; ability to communicate well in person and in writing; computer skills including typical business applications; skills and experience in the following areas is preferred - event planning, hospitality, social media and publishing tools; organizational and time-management skills; and training, education and experience in senior programming and activity coordination 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Event Planning:  Collaborate with the Senior Coordinator to plan and facilitate events; serve as the liaison for senior events/programs ranging from 10-80 participants.
  • Logistics & Vendor Relationships:  Assist with venue layout, equipment, catering contracts, event set-up and tear-down.
  • Calendars:  Create activity calendars and flyers for social events, classes and programs.
  • Senior Lounge:  Welcome seniors with upbeat attitude, deep lounge organized, maintain information, keep supplies stocked.
  • Assisting Seniors:   Assist with sign up for all events and programs, collect money, run reports, make deposits to Finance Department.
  • Track Attendance:  Maintain detailed records of participation.
  • Lead Small Groups:  Assist Senior Coordinator with small group activities 
  • Demonstrate patience, attentiveness, positivity and flexibility while working to address the needs of the senior community.
